Biography

Dr. Peter Kisaakye is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Population Studies, School of Statistics and Planning, College of Business and Management Sciences at Makerere University. He has over 50 publications to his name, mostly in the field of sexual and reproductive health, gender-based violence, social and gender norms and mental health in both humanitarian and development settings. Peter is a recipient of the meritorious Vice Chancellor Research Excellence Award for 2023 & 2024 for demonstrating good scholarship and excellence. He was inducted as a Fellow of the Uganda National Academy of Sciences (FUNAS) in 2025. He holds a PhD in Demography from the University of Cape Town and had his post-doctoral training at the Medical Research Council/ University of Witwatersrand Rural Public Health and Transitions Research Unit.
