Biography

Jamidah nakato is a lecturer in the department of marketing and management at Makerere University, where she has been since 2011. She is passionate, eager to learn and self-driven on matters of advancing her knowledge, skills and academic career. From 2011 to 2019, she served as an assistant lecturer, and in 2020, was promoted to the rank of Lecturer. Apart from academic activities, she has taken on administrative roles as eLearning coordinator, and has also served on committees such as on examination malpractice and irregularities committee and appointments and promotion committee. She has trained as a module developer of online courses, and is proud to have designed online course modules for OER Africa. She served as an external examiner at Kyambogo university. She has a BA (Education) degree and a Master of Business Administration degree from Makerere University, and a PhD (Business Management) degree from the Nelson Mandela University in Summerstrand, Post Elizabeth in South Africa. From 2010 to 2015, she also worked with the Makerere University / Yale University (MUYU) Collaboration. She is currently one of the Directors of Linde Health Educators without Borders. She is also a member of The Human Resource Managers’ Association of Uganda (HRMAU).

She has explored the fields of management, marketing, finance, entrepreneurship, education and talent management in the health sector, where she has also conducted research. She has authored publications on talent management, social entrepreneurship, skills matching as well as on transforming global health communications during the COVID-19 Pandemic among others. She has given numerous talks, notable among which, include: the talk on Employability in the 21st century to the Rotary Club of Wandegeya; and Pandemic myths – African style in an interactive zoom series titled: Open Forums with Friends and Colleagues around the world, which was organized by the University of Vermont Larner College of Medicine / Nuvance Health Global Health Programme.
