Makerere University signs MoU with Queen’s University Global

It was an exciting day as Makerere University and Queen’s University Global signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Vice-Chancellor Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe and Vice-Provost for Global Engagement Dr. Sandra den Otter, represented Makerere University and Queen’s University Global respectively.

 

The MoU, signed at Makerere University, signifies a commitment to institutional collaboration and cooperation, leveraging each institution’s strengths, experience, technologies, methodologies, investments, opportunities, and resources to achieve shared and complementary goals. Specifically, the agreement encompasses: Collaborative academic and research initiatives, exchange programs for undergraduate and postgraduate students, staff mobility programs, provision of briefing services for visitors from each institution, exchange of information and materials of mutual interest, as well as additional forms of cooperation that the institutions may jointly arrange. This partnership promises enhanced educational and research capabilities of both universities, fostering a mutually beneficial relationship.

The atmosphere at the signing ceremony was charged with excitement and optimism, as attendees from both institutions recognized the profound impact this collaboration would have on their communities. Prof. Nawangwe emphasized the significance of the MoU, stating, “This partnership aligns perfectly with Makerere University’s strategic goals to expand our global engagement and enhance our research and academic prowess.” Dr. den Otter echoed this sentiment, highlighting the mutual benefits of the agreement, “Queen’s University Global is thrilled to embark on this journey with Makerere University. Together, we will push the boundaries of knowledge and innovation, creating opportunities for our students and staff that transcend geographical borders.”

In the coming months, both universities plan to establish a joint committee to oversee the implementation of the MoU and ensure that the outlined goals are met. This committee will be responsible for identifying specific projects, coordinating exchange programs, and facilitating ongoing communication between the institutions.
