5th-March 2026 – The College of Business and Management Sciences (CoBAMS) successfully hosted the two-day (4th–5th March 2026) Sports Gala 2026, focusing on fostering sportsmanship, teamwork, and holistic student development by bringing together students, leaders, and administrators in a vibrant and inclusive celebration.
Organized by the Deputy Principal of CoBAMS, Associate Professor James Wokadala (Patron), the Chairperson College Guild Council (CGC), Ssozi Batte Fahad, and the College Guild Representative Councilor (GRC), the gala featured a blend of competitive football and recreational activities, including inter-departmental matches, and knockout tournaments.
The gala showcased an inter-programme football tournament that attracted students from various programmes, including Bachelor of Statistics (BSTAT), Bachelor of Arts in Economics (BECON), Bachelor of Science in Quantitative Economics (BSQE), Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Bachelor of Commerce (BCOM), Bachelor of Accounting and Finance (BAF), and Bachelor of Human Resource Management (BHRM), highlighting the College’s strong spirit of unity and healthy competition.
Awards and Recognition

The award ceremony was presided over by the Deputy Principal of CoBAMS, Associate Professor James Wokadala, accompanied by members of the college administration, the College Guild Council (CGC), and the Guild Representative Council (GRC).
Silver Medal Award

The first runners-up, Bachelor of Statistics (BSTAT), were presented with silver medals in recognition of their commendable performance and determination throughout the tournament.
Championship Award

The champions, Bachelor of Science in Quantitative Economics (BSQE) were awarded gold medals, a trophy, and a goat in recognition of their exceptional performance and triumph in the CoBAMS Sports Gala 2026 football tournament.
Fostering Student Engagement and Leadership
In his remarks, the Deputy Principal of CoBAMS, Associate Professor James Wokadala, applauded the participants for actively engaging in sports while pursuing academic excellence. He emphasized the importance of maintaining a balance between academics and extracurricular activities.
He commended the College Guild Council (CGC) of the 2025–2026 academic year for organizing impactful student activities, noting that it has been among the most effective student leadership teams he has worked with.
He recognized the Chairperson of the College Guild Council (CGC), Ssozi Batte Fahad, for his outstanding leadership in strengthening student engagement and fostering active participation in college activities.
The Deputy Principal reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to supporting student-led initiatives and extracurricular activities, emphasizing their vital role in promoting the holistic development of learners.
Way Forward
The 2026 CoBAMS Sports Gala marked one of the final major activities under the current College Guild Council (CGC) leadership, ahead of the upcoming CoBAMS College Dinner scheduled for 21st March 2026 at Sky’s Naguru Hotel.
Through initiatives such as the Sports Gala, CoBAMS continues to foster a vibrant student community where academic excellence is complemented by wellness, leadership development, and teamwork, preparing students to thrive both personally and professionally.
