CoBAMS Launches Physical Fitness Program

On 17th July 2025, the Deputy Principal, Associate Professor James Wokadala launched the College of Business and Management Sciences (CoBAMS) physical fitness program to promote wellness, better health, team work and cohesion.

Associate Prof. Wokadala stated that the program will feature a variety of activities, including aerobics, diet management sessions, and stress reduction exercises, all designed to enhance both physical and mental well-being.

The Deputy Principal emphasized that the program is crucial for promoting long-term health and enhancing the college’s productivity. He stressed that prioritizing health enables staff and students to manage stress, improve performance, and contribute to the institution’s overall success.

“Physical fitness is important not only for individual well-being, but also for the success of the entire institution,” he said. He explained that physical exercises enable the body to function well thus reducing cases of health crises such as strokes, heart failure, and general body weakness.

He highlighted that the physical fitness program is anchored within CoBAMS health, wellness, and safety values. “CoBAMS aims to create a thriving environment where both academic and professional performance are enhanced through physical well-being,” he remarked.

The Deputy Principal rallied staff members to participate in the physical fitness program, which takes place every Tuesday starting at 5:00pm at CoBAMS Annex building.  He disclosed that qualified professionals will be lined up to provide expert guidance on exercise routines, stress management, and nutrition.

Some of the staff members who appreciated the launch of the physical fitness program at CoBAMS include: Ms. Sarah Wegosasa- Administrative Secretary, Ms. Claire Nakaseeta- Assistant Librarian and Physical Fitness Coordinator, and Mr. Joseph Ikarokok-Chief Custodian.

Ms. Nakaseeta expressed gratitude to the College management for supporting the physical fitness initiative, which would greatly improve the physical well-being of staff members. She urged staff to participate in the program, pointing out, that their health was of utmost importance.

Ms. Wegosasa encouraged staff to actively engage in the activity to improve their overall health and well-being. She pointed out that the sessions that take place in a relaxed and convenient environment at CoBAMS­­, revitalize the human body.

Mr.  Ikarokok commended the organizing committee for coming up with an initiative that positively impacts the mental health of participants. Noting that participation was free of charge, he called upon members of staff to embrace the program.

Expressing their commitment to the physical fitness program, several participants pledged to adhere to the scheduled session (every Tuesday, from 5:00pm to 6:00pm).
